Franklin County Fair Announces 2015 Dates

(Dec. 17, 2014)

The second annual event will take place Sept. 23-26, 2015 at the Franklin County Recreation Park.

The second annual Franklin County Fair will be Sept. 23-26, 2015 at Franklin County Recreation Park in Rocky Mount.

At its Dec. 16 meeting, the Franklin County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved 2015 dates and Brinkley Entertainment, Inc. midway services for the four-day event.

“The community’s response to our inaugural fair was overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to bringing the event back again next fall,” said Cline Brubaker, acting board chairman, following the board meeting.

Under the direction of the Office of Economic Development, the fair planning committee recommended that the board approve the Office’s request to again contract with Brinkley Entertainment, Inc. of Walnut Cove, N.C. in the amount of $33,000 for midway services. Additionally, the committee recommended 2015 dates of Wednesday, Sept. 23 through Saturday, Sept. 26. These dates do not conflict with the State 4-H Championship Horse and Pony Show, also in September, will allow the Franklin County Equestrian Club to host the fair horse show within the same timeframe instead of the week before.

The September date continues to support the committee’s goal of organizing an agricultural event closer to fall harvests and such valuable attributes as the inclusion of high school agriculture students and career and technical skills competitions for local and regional youth, which occur during the academic calendar year.

Regionally, Brinkley Entertainment, Inc. services the annual Carroll County Agricultural Fair in Hillsville, the annual Celebration event at the Martinsville Speedway, and the Massies Mill Ruritan Carnival in Roseland, among others.

Franklin County’s agreement with Brinkley Entertainment, Inc. will include 12 mechanical rides, a 50-foot Ferris wheel, two concession trailers and four or more games. The fair committee will also have the opportunity to add additional games, attractions and entertainment to make the family-friendly event even more appealing to local and regional patrons.
