Jon Anderson of YES at the Harvester Performance Center
450 Franklin St
Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151
Jon Anderson is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable voices in progressive rock as the lead vocalist and creative force behind Yes. Anderson was the author and a major creative influence behind the ground-breaking album ‘Fragile’ as well as the series of epic, complex pieces such as “Awaken”, “Gates of Delirium” and especially “Close to the Edge” which were central to the band’s success.
Jon completed several successful solo tours in 2012, and a tour of Australia in Spring 2013, along with shows in Europe and North America. In November of 2013, Jon went to Iceland to perform with Todmobile. That performance, which is evidenced by the clip on Youtube of “Awaken”, proved that with a great ensemble, Jon can perform and recreate the magic of Yes. Also in 2013 Jon was awarded the “Voice of Progressive Music’ award by VRMA.
It is a commonly held misconception that Jon Anderson sings falsetto, a vocal technique which artificially produces high, airy notes by using only the ligamentous edges of the vocal cords; however, he does not. His normal voice Jon completed hugely successful tours in North and South America, regularly playing to sold out crowds. In the summer of 2014, he formed a new ensemble with jazz violin legend Jean-Luc Ponty.
