Franklin County Agricultural Fair Offers Diverse Musical Performances

The Main Stage will feature bluegrass, country, blues, rock, pop, Southern rock and gospel by five bands.

Attendees to the 2014 Franklin County Agricultural Fair will be treated to a wide selection of musical styles by the five bands performing from Wednesday, Sept. 10 through Saturday, Sept. 13 at Franklin County Recreation Park, 2150 Sontag Road in Rocky Mount.

The groups will be familiar to folks living in Franklin County and the surrounding area. After Jack, the first band set to perform on Wednesday evening is from Ferrum. The remaining bands call the greater Roanoke area home. The bands on the Main Stage are After Jack (performing Wednesday from 7 – 9:30 p.m.), Hoppie Vaughn and the Ministers of Soul, (Thursday 7 – 9:30 p.m.), Barefoot West (Friday 7 – 10 p.m.), The Kings (Saturday 4 – 6:30 p.m.) and, True Cadence (Saturday 8 – 10:30 p.m.)

“We have music for all tastes lined up for the Main Stage at the Franklin County Agricultural Fair,” said Jared Cypher, chairman of the fair’s entertainment committee. “Folks will hear country, blues, bluegrass, rock, pop, Southern rock and gospel delivered by our diverse entertainers. It doesn’t matter what your taste in music is, you will be in for a treat.”

ABOUT THE FAIR

The Franklin County Agricultural Fair will be open Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 10-11 from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 12 from 4 p.m.-11 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Dairy and Beef Cattle Show (formerly identified as the 4-H Livestock show) will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the Blue Ridge Mountain Garden Tractor Pullers’ Lawnmower Pull event will start at 11 a.m. and the midway will open at noon, with the fairgrounds closing at 11 p.m. The Franklin County Agricultural Fair Pre-Kick-Off Horse Show was Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Ginther Farm, 3128 Sontag Road, within a mile of the fairgrounds.
